Hard to believe, but another calendar year is coming to an end. Here is your weekly horoscope for the week of December 30, 2024! We've made it. 2025 promises to be a big year astrologically: every major planet, with the exception of Pluto, will change signs in the coming year! Sounds like a big deal, and it certainly is. We will, of course, discuss each move in more detail as they occur; and if you simply can't wait, you can book yourself a Year Ahead Astrology reading (details below)! For now, suffice it to say that 2025 is a year of massive changes. These last couple of days of 2024 are quiet, though, and 2025 starts off innocuously enough, with Venus slipping into Pisces, the sign of her exaltation. Things get intense quickly, however, with Mars and Pluto facing off to start the weekend, and Saturn having his say as well. The Moon will reach her new phase in Capricorn on Monday evening. She sails into Aquarius on New Year’s Day, and meanders into Pisces Friday morning. She ends the weekend in Aries, where she arrives Sunday afternoon.

Monday, December 30, 2024 - New Moon at 9° Capricorn (5:27 p.m.)
Today’s New Moon takes place in Capricorn, a sign that is known for its inherent discipline, ambition and maturity. It forms a wide sextile to Saturn in Pisces, which is doubly good news: not only is the sextile a gentle and progressive aspect, but Saturn rules Capricorn, and is therefore the Lord of this New Moon. Favorable aspects to the lunation’s ruling planet signify that the universe is ready to give us something good, so long as we are willing to put in the work. This is Capricorn, after all! The sextile between Saturn and the New Moon brings us the discipline and self-control necessary to deal with our emotions in a constructive (rather than destructive) manner. Less tantruming, more problem solving. This energy allows us to look deeply within, and to learn from past mistakes, so that we don’t keep repeating them. It’s not particularly sexy, but it is immensely fortifying. Take the opportunity being presented now, set some measurable goals and grow towards your highest and greatest potential.
Thursday, January 2, 2025 - Venus enters Pisces (10:24 p.m.)
Venus enters Pisces tonight, the sign of her exaltation. Planets that move in exaltation have a really easy time of it, because they get to enjoy the transit without all of the responsibility that comes along with rulership. There’s no need for Venus to lift a finger here in Pisces, because big brother Neptune is handling everything. Venus gets to simply show up and meander, swimming in the sea of unconditional love. Sounds lovely, right? Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but literally nothing in astrology is all good or all bad. Venus in Pisces is a strong Venus, for sure, but she is still subject to all the shadowy energies that exist in this sign. In Pisces, Venus loves hard. She also lacks boundaries, wears rose colored glasses full time, ignores red flags and routinely falls in love with potential. She’s been known to hemorrhage money on occasion, too. So it’s not all rainbows and unicorns, unfortunately. Still, this transit is a nice one - we can all stand to soften up a bit from time to time, and that becomes markedly easier to do now. Just take care to not become a doormat while she’s here. Stay honest with yourself about how things really are, and not how you wish they would be. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. If you delude yourself too much, you’ll get slapped down hard when she gets to Aries on February 4th, and even harder when she retrogrades back here in March.
Friday, January 3, 2025 - Mars Rx opposite Pluto (1° Leo to Aquarius)
A week of extreme presentations continues today, as Mars Rx in Leo goes head to head with big brother Pluto in Aquarius for the second time in as many months. Because of Mars’ retrograde cycle, we will get three total installments of this energy - this is the second one. The first one occurred on November 3rd, and the last one will occur on April 26th. Thus, this is a protracted lesson that will take months to play out. What is that lesson, you ask? Well, that depends on you. Mars is the conscious expression of Pluto’s transformative energy. Translation: Pluto is the shadowy seat of our deepest, darkest desires, and Mars is the agent in charge of going after them. When Mars and Pluto are at odds, then, the results can be catastrophic. Maybe we take intentional actions on a depraved fantasy that should never see the light of day, or maybe we allow our shadow to drive the bus, and act with a complete lack of awareness of the why behind it. No matter how it presents, the advice is the same: avoid power plays and keep all of your actions above board. Attempts at subversion will be met with fierce resistance under this opposition, triggering a domino effect that will be nearly impossible to reverse.
Saturday, January 4, 2025 - Sun sextile Saturn (14° Capricorn to Pisces)
Thanks to last Monday’s New Moon, this energy has been in play all week. But it reaches a culmination today, and not a moment too soon. Sun sextile Saturn gifts us with patience, determination, discipline, and a strong and enduring work ethic. You will have zero desire to cut corners under this energy. In fact, you will revel in a job well done. Serotonin boosts for everyone!! If you’re embroiled in conflict, today would be a great day to try and bury the proverbial hatchet. You will excel at problem solving, largely because Saturn brings maturity to the forefront, taking emotionality out of the picture. You see what needs to be done to restore peace, and you simply get it done. No muss, no fuss. Trust in the wisdom and guidance of your elders now, and don’t shy away from any leadership roles that are presented to you. Squandering this energy will feel really gross, so get up and get something important accomplished today.
